Normally, as part of the aging process, our skin gradually loses its elasticity and our muscles tend to relax. After Face and Neck Aesthetic Surgery

Face lift and neck lift procedures are performed under general anesthesia. The operation takes between two and five hours.
You may be given antibiotics to keep the wound clean. You may have drainage tubes in your face or neck to drain any fluid or blood. These tubes will be removed when the fluid or blood has stopped draining, usually before you go home.

You can go home the same day, but you will most likely stay in the hospital overnight. Your face and neck will feel tight and sore. Simple painkillers will be enough to make you comfortable.

There will be some dressings on your face and neck. Most surgeons will bandage your face to reduce bruising and swelling. These bandages will stay on for a day or two and the stitches will be removed after seven or eight days.

It is normal to have some numbness on the cheek and ear skin. This usually resolves within a few weeks or months, but there may be a long-term loss of sensitivity of the skin in front of your ears.
Do not lift heavy things for several weeks and avoid bending over or having sex for at least two weeks. Begin all activities gently.

What Are the Complications After Face and Neck Lift Aesthetics?

There will be surgical scars after face and neck aesthetics, but most of them will be hidden in the hairline. The scars will usually first turn red, then purple and then fade within 12 to 18 months. Sometimes scars can become larger, thick, red or painful and you may need surgery to fix them.

Heavy bleeding is unusual but possible, and you may need a blood transfusion or other surgery (or both) to stop the bleeding. Any bleeding usually happens soon after surgery. Before the surgery, your surgeon will advise you not to use drugs that increase your risk of bleeding and will control high blood pressure. Men are twice as likely to experience heavy bleeding.

You may have non-healing wounds. Usually this problem is resolved by dressing the wounds, but further surgery may be required to remove tissue that is not healing properly. Smokers are much more likely to experience healing problems.

Loss of blood supply to the skin Some areas of the skin may die (called necrosis) if the blood supply is interrupted during surgery. This may mean you need another operation and may affect the final result. An area affected by necrosis may have a lump or a rough surface. Smokers are more likely to lose blood flow to the skin during surgery.

Discoloration of the skin After surgery, most patients will experience some change in skin color where the surgery was performed. This can usually be covered with makeup.

If your wound becomes infected, you may need antibiotics or other surgery. This may affect the final outcome of the surgery.

Swelling, bruising and pain There will be some swelling and bruising on the face after the surgery and this may take weeks to go away. There may be prolonged pain, but this is rare.

Asymmetry means that the sides of the face and neck are not symmetrical. Small rough areas are common and usually improve over time. Sometimes scars can change the appearance of the earlobe or the cartilage in front of the ear, but these problems can usually be corrected with a procedure done under local anesthesia.
After surgery, most patients notice some change in sensation in the face and neck. Most commonly, you may experience numbness near the scar. In rare cases, the loss of sensation may be permanent.

Although rare, surgery can damage deeper structures, including nerves, blood vessels, muscles, and structures in the neck. If a part of the facial nerve is damaged, there may be weakening of eyebrow and lip movements. This damage can be temporary or permanent.

Unsatisfactory result Sometimes patients are not satisfied with the result of facelift or neck lift surgery. This may be related to the look or feel of the face or neck, or the shape that does not meet expectations.

There is a low risk of chest infection. The risk is higher if you smoke.
